Trail Guide
Bordering Black Hills National Forest, our camp offers over 100 miles of trails directly accessible from camp. For folks wishing to ride the area's iconic trails off -ite trails, you can rent a trailer for the short haul to the Mt. Rushmore trail heads, Black Elk Peak trail head, or Custer State Park.
Bridle Ridge borders the Black Hills National Forest and offers 100 miles of scenic riding straight from camp. Experience wildflower fields, water crossings, and rugged rock outcroppings. Our trails cater to all experience levels, cover very varied terrain from both low and high country, and offer memorable rides and spectacular scenic views. Water crossings, lush green forest and beautiful rock outcroppings delight your senses as you ride this pristine 43-mile area. Several trails offer views of Crazy Horse in the distance and this area is a guest favorite for spending days Exploring, taking in all the splendor, and letting their horses graze a little. Don’t forget your picnic!
This is the most common wildlife viewing area for elk in the early morning and late afternoons. Deer and coyote can be seen as well. It offers 41 miles of very pretty riding using partial 2 track with hills and valleys in between and the “prize” of finding the Thunderbird statute placed on a high rock bluff by a sculptor living in the area.
Large beautiful rock bluffs are now visible by some timbering in the area. Trails use 2 track forest service roads as well as off track single horse trails to explore these 28 miles.
At the elevation of 7168 Bear Mountain is the 2 nd tallest peak in SD. Offering 360 degree views of SD and WY the ride to the fire tower is well worth it! You are really riding the high country here and its good to get an early morning start. The views are truly spectacular!

For a more challenging adventure, Black Elk Peak offers an exciting ride suited for the physically fit mount. And nearby Deerfield Lake trail caters to riders of varying abilities. Departing from the Iron Creek Trailhead, riders can enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of the Black Hills, making their way towards the iconic Mt. Rushmore. This trailhead offers a unique blend of peaceful landscapes and the spirit of exploration, providing a memorable journey through South Dakota's wilderness.
This one's similar to the "Mt. Rushmore From Iron Creek Trailhead."
A 13.4-mile strenuous loop rewards you with 360 degree view from the tallest peak in SD. The views are breathtaking and well worth the 6.5-hour ride. The photo opportunities are endless and you will never forget this spectacular ride. This one is truly a notch on your belt kind of ride!
Ride the shores of Deerfield for most of your journey and then into beautiful rolling grasslands and pine forest. This trail head is about an hour from camp but well worth the drive. After your ride stop by the little store across from the trailhead for lunch or a refreshing beverage. Start early as it is a full days ride.
